Dear the legal minds of the India,
Three Months out in the real world and some of us were ready to believe we were lawyers already. Turns out that was not the real world, so, Welcome back!
The second year has gotten underway in full fledged fast-n-d-furious fashion, and between the obscure Biological references and the Attendance Nazis, we have scarcely had any time to take in the fact that we're not the newbies anymore. I abruptly realized this only when we met our Juniors at the meet-n-greet dinner tonight. They seem like a cool bunch, much more assured than we were around this time last year, and some rather entertaining freaks of nature (you know who I mean!).
Now let's just sit back, relax and watch them unravel as they slowly, painfully discover exactly the nature of the mess that they've stepped into.
Haha, Just Kidding...... or am I? ;-)
Moving on, there has long been talk of raising the standard of Mooting at RGS and of making it appealing enough for students to come and watch as the legal the minds of the India battle it out in the Moot Court Room @ RGS. Finally, a plan has been put into motion.
Er... well, apparently the term "Moot Court" wasn't cool or sophisticated enough, so this year we have got "Central Moot Court". Too bad, the powers that be didn't waste too much time thinking, or they would've realized that for something to be "Central", there must be something else on the periphery. But what the hell, I do agree, "Central Moot Court" does sound way cooler.
And seriously, what can be more interesting than one case being argued over and over again by 8 pairs of students for a period of 3+ hours, while the Judge insists on taking the all-important attendance only after the whole affair's done and dusted!
Finally, and most importantly, I would like to remind everyone of the huge loss one of our own suffered very recently, not in mundane worldly terms but in terms of a small quantum of the essence of life and intrinsic joy. We will never forget that moment when a certain professor, with all the hope of a nascent blossom in his eyes and all the alacrity of an 8 year old brat in his voice, called out in the classroom for "Sonal" and who, upon hearing a response, could not hide the pain of crushed innocence in his tone when he painfully croaked out the fateful words "Are you sure?!". Moment of Silence.
It is almost comical to note then that this horrifyingly wrathful travesty will repeat itself at least once every working day for the rest of the semester. Most of all on each Friday, or as I now like to call it, D-Day (© Narayanan Hariharan, how he could possibly claim copyright over this term is beyond me).
Until next time.
Be Cool,
R&R LLP (The Law Firm which will ultimately hire you, don't ask how.)
P.S.: 5 girls from the first year have threatened to quit RGS if Antriksh Mishra does not return to Kgp soon. Antriksh Mishra, if you're alive and reading this, please note that these 5 girls are the cute ones and RGS won't be able to survive the loss.
